TRW Innovation Day at Fiat in Turin

On 27th April 2010, TRW Automotive hosted a technology day for Fiat – “TRW InnovationDay - Products & Technologies for Fiat Group”.

With the event located just next to the Fiat premises in the Mirafiori Motor Village, TRW was ideally situated to present its innovative products and technologies. The focal point for the day was the new Grande Punto (start of production 2012), for which the supplier contract negotiations are going to start soon.

One of the highlights of the day was the “Grande Punto Production chart”, which demonstrated all relevant products for the Grande Punto. This display chart was a popular tool and was also presented on stage.

For the first time, TRW showcased its EPB Front technology which attracted a great deal of interest – competing in popularity with TRW’s famous acrylic car.

Peter Lake, executive vice president sales and business development, opened the event and welcomed around 40 VIPs from different Fiat departments and brands.

A high number of decision makers in attendance demonstrates the success of TRW’s innovative products and strong relationship with Fiat.

TRW was especially delighted to welcome Mr. Harald Wester, head of engineering and chairman for the Alfa Romeo, Abarth and Maserati brands.

During the VIP tour, TRW representatives had the opportunity to show Mr Wester and the other VIPs TRW’s product highlights and discuss the innovative technologies for the Grande Punto in more detail.

After the VIP tour, the event was opened up to the remaining attendees from Fiat - around 350 people in total.

At the same time as the tour, a number of technical presentations were given on Cognitive Safety Systems; Advanced Steering Systems; Advanced Braking & Suspension; Innovations in Electronics; Advanced Passive Safety Systems; Body Control Systems; and Engineered Fasteners & Component.

All presentations were well attended and provided delegates with the opportunity to better understand TRW’s products and departments. Lively Q&A sessions were encouraged at the end of each presentation.

TRW’s customers also had the opportunity to experience the different technologies in a wide selection of test vehicles equipped with the latest Column Drive and Belt Drive steering systems.

The event was a great success and reinforced TRW’s technology and product synergies with Fiat. Customers and TRW colleagues have provided positive feedback about the day. The Italian team has now been able to arrange follow up activities in Balocco with senior executives.
